Multi-country, the way we design them

Brussels, Belgium, Alsace & Switzerland by Train in 10 Days: Brussels to Zermatt

Our designers’ take

01

Crossing a border in Europe takes an hour on a train, but planning across one usually takes three agencies, two currencies and a lot of emails. We are a DMC in France with teams on the ground in France and Switzerland and vetted partners in Italy, Germany and Belgium, so one designer builds and books the whole route, and one phone number works in every country.

Milan, Italy & Switzerland in 7 Days: Milan, Lake Maggiore, Lugano & Zurich
02

Our published multi-country itineraries all run by train. Belgium, Alsace and Switzerland in 10 Days goes from Brussels (with Ghent and Bruges day trips) to Strasbourg and the Alsace Wine Route, Basel by e-bike along the Rhine, Zermatt and the Gornergrat, the Mount Pilatus Golden Round Trip and Bern, from 2,999 € per person. Italy and Switzerland in 7 Days links Milan, the Borromean Islands, Lake Orta, Lugano and Zurich with an Appenzell cheese day and the Bürgenstock spa, from 2,999 € per person in 4* hotels. Switzerland to Italy in 14 Days is the active version: Zurich, the Rhine Falls, kayaking and via ferrata in the Jungfrau region, Lucerne and Mount Rigi, Lugano, Lake Como by private water taxi, Lake Maggiore and Milan, from 5,499 € per person.

France and Switzerland is the pairing we build most often from scratch: Paris by TGV Lyria to Geneva in 3 h 10, Montreux and Lavaux, Zermatt or the Jungfrau, Lucerne, and back through Lyon or Annecy. The Swiss day in our 14-day France honeymoon shows how Lavaux and Chillon fit into a French route. Germany and Austria pair naturally too: our Christmas markets itinerary includes a train day to Salzburg.

04

Rules we follow: one border crossing per week, no stop under two nights, open-jaw flights (into one city, out of another), first class with reservations on every international train, private transfers at every station, and one document with every ticket, pickup and phone number. For nights per stop see Europe in 14 days and Europe in 21 days; the multi-country guide covers seasons, currencies and train times. A priced proposal for the whole route arrives within 48 hours.

A wonderful travel partner

Caroline our specialist was always knowledgeable, available, helpful and kind. I was unable to make the trip because my cat became quite ill a couple of days before our departure. Caroline helped my husband have an enjoyable trip on his own and we appreciate her. I learned a lot even though I couldn’t travel. I can now use What’s App and Google Translate and Instagram. Thank you Caroline!

Barcelona to Nice along the Mediterranean

We had a wonderful time making the journey along the Mediterranean coast. We had a wonderful time making the journey along the Mediterranean coast. Starting in Barcelona we were able to visit the newly opened Sagrada de Familia with a wonderful guide - one of the highlights our trip. We had an early entry so the crowds were easily managed and we were able to enjoy both inside and out. The next day we had another great guide who showed us the Jewish history and historical presence in Barcelona. After Barcelona, we went to Girona, which was a wonderful surprise. We stayed at a lovely hotel in the old town that was a converted palace. Our tour here of the old town focusing on Jewish history was incredible. The next day we had an all day small group tour of Dali's house and museum - both well worth the travel including the incredible views along the Costa Brava. Travelling by car along the southern coast of France was relatively easily finding great things to see - Pone du Gard, Baux de Provence town and castle, St. Paul de Vence and finally Nice. An electric bike ride in Nice was also wonderful.

Mount Pilatus, Lake Brienz and Grindelwald

The trip was wonderful. Emilie did a great job in booking our hotels and tours! She explained the train system and how to use the Swiss Rail Pass. The trip was wonderful. Emilie did a great job in booking our hotels and tours! She explained the train system and how to use the Swiss Rail Pass. The hotels for the most part were in great locations, close to the train stations, restaurants and sites to see. The trips she planned to Mount Pilatus and Gornergrat were filled with beautiful scenery of the Alps! Our Kayak tour on Lake Brienz with Hightide Kayaks and Ben, our guide was great. It couldn’t have been more peaceful and serene and Ben got some great photos for us. Our E-bike tour through Grindelwald was filled with amazing views of waterfalls and quaint towns. Marceau, our guide was informative and provided us with hi-lites of the area, photos and a perfect picnic lunch. We did have one glitch, with The Galcier Express running almost three hours longer than scheduled. We heard rumors that there was a train issue with another Glacier Express train. By the time we got to one of the more scenic areas, it was too dark to see any sites. Checking into our hotel at around 9 pm and leaving before 9 am the next morning seemed like such a loss of time. Granted this is no fault on Mobee International’s part, it was just a matter of unforseen circumstances. We only caught a glimpse of St Moritz on the bus ride back to the train station. Emile is aware and has started a process for a refund of some sort. Overall I would highly recommend Emilie and the Mobee International team to friends that seek assistance with travel plans. This is our second trip Mobee International assisted us with travel plans.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries combine best on one trip?

France and Switzerland (Paris to Geneva 3 h 10 by TGV), Switzerland and Italy (Zurich to Milan 3 h 20, Lugano to Como under an hour), Belgium with France and Switzerland by rail, and Germany with Austria via Salzburg. The contrast works best when you move from cities and wine to mountains, then to lakes.

How many days do I need for two countries?

Ten at minimum, fourteen to do it well, with four to six nights in each country and a single travel day between. Our 7-day Italy and Switzerland trip works because the two halves are an hour apart; for France and Switzerland or Switzerland and Italy with mountains, plan two weeks.

Do I need different currencies?

Switzerland uses the Swiss franc; France, Italy, Germany and Belgium use the euro. Cards work almost everywhere in all five countries, so you rarely need cash beyond small tips and markets. We tell you where a few francs are useful (mountain huts, some Christmas market stalls).

Is it cheaper to book each country separately?

Rarely, and it is always more work. A single DMC books the cross-border trains at release prices, avoids one-way car rental fees, and knows which Swiss hotel is a two-minute walk from the platform. If a train is late in Basel, one call fixes the hotel in Zermatt. That coordination is what you pay for, and it is included.

Can a multi-country trip be done without flying between countries?

Yes, and it should be. Every route on this page is by train: Paris to Geneva, Zurich to Milan, Brussels to Strasbourg, Munich to Salzburg all run in one to four hours city center to city center. Flying inside Europe adds airport time and loses the scenery that is the point of the Alps.

Two minutes, three steps. Free and without obligation.
