Family trips, the way we design them

Bayeux

Our designers’ take

01

Families ask us for three things: a private driver so nobody navigates, hotels with family rooms, and days that work for a nine-year-old and a grandparent. We build around a two-night minimum per stop, one big activity per day and a free afternoon, and we book the guides who know how to hold a child's attention at a D-Day beach or a castle.

Chamonix, Chamonix Adventure Week: Rafting, Aiguille du Midi & Annecy in 7 Days
02

Our most booked family itinerary is France Family Trip in 7 Days: Honfleur and Bayeux, the D-Day beaches with a treasure hunt for the kids, Mont Saint-Michel, Chenonceau and Azay-le-Rideau, the House of Magic in Blois, Versailles with a private guide, dinner on the Eiffel Tower and a full day at Disneyland Paris, with a private driver throughout. From 1,099 € per person, which makes it our best-value week in France. For teenagers who want to move, Chamonix Adventure Week adds rafting on the Arve, a climbing day, the Aiguille du Midi cable car and a via ferrata facing Mont Blanc, all from one hotel, from 1,299 € per person.

Heidelberg 3
03

In Germany, the 7-day Bavaria road trip gives castles (Heidelberg, Neuschwanstein), a medieval town inside its walls (Rothenburg) and Munich, with an automatic rental car and 4* hotels with parking. Active families with older children love our Switzerland to Italy in 14 Days: kayaking on Lake Brienz, the Schilthorn, a via ferrata and paragliding in the Jungfrau region, a night watchman walk in Lucerne, Mount Rigi, then Lake Como and a pizza and gelato class in Milan.

Multigenerational trips are a specialty: we pair a 4* hotel with connecting rooms or an apartment, keep walking distances short, and schedule grandparents' quiet mornings alongside the kids' activities. Accessible versions exist for every route, designed by Caroline. Emilie, who grew up in a family of six that traveled across Africa and the Americas, designs most of our family trips from our office near Lyon. See France, Switzerland and Germany for seasons and school-holiday timing, and expect a priced proposal within 48 hours.

A wonderful travel partner

Caroline our specialist was always knowledgeable, available, helpful and kind. I was unable to make the trip because my cat became quite ill a couple of days before our departure. Caroline helped my husband have an enjoyable trip on his own and we appreciate her. I learned a lot even though I couldn’t travel. I can now use What’s App and Google Translate and Instagram. Thank you Caroline!

Barcelona to Nice along the Mediterranean

We had a wonderful time making the journey along the Mediterranean coast. We had a wonderful time making the journey along the Mediterranean coast. Starting in Barcelona we were able to visit the newly opened Sagrada de Familia with a wonderful guide - one of the highlights our trip. We had an early entry so the crowds were easily managed and we were able to enjoy both inside and out. The next day we had another great guide who showed us the Jewish history and historical presence in Barcelona. After Barcelona, we went to Girona, which was a wonderful surprise. We stayed at a lovely hotel in the old town that was a converted palace. Our tour here of the old town focusing on Jewish history was incredible. The next day we had an all day small group tour of Dali's house and museum - both well worth the travel including the incredible views along the Costa Brava. Travelling by car along the southern coast of France was relatively easily finding great things to see - Pone du Gard, Baux de Provence town and castle, St. Paul de Vence and finally Nice. An electric bike ride in Nice was also wonderful.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best European country for a family trip?

France for variety in a week: beaches with history, castles, Paris and Disneyland. Switzerland for outdoor families with children over eight: trains, cable cars, lakes and easy hikes. Germany for castles and a road trip at gentle prices. Italy's lakes suit families with younger children who like boats.

Do your family trips include a private driver?

In France, yes: our 7-day family itinerary has a private driver from the Paris airport to Normandy, the Loire and back. In Switzerland trains are easier with children than a car, so we use the Swiss Travel Pass (children under 16 travel free with a parent). In Germany we book an automatic rental car with child seats.

What ages are your family itineraries suited to?

The France family trip works from about age six. Chamonix's rafting and via ferrata start around ten to twelve depending on the activity; we substitute easier options for younger siblings. The Switzerland to Italy trip suits teenagers. Tell us the ages and we adjust each day.

Can you book family rooms or connecting rooms?

Yes. We request family rooms, connecting rooms or suites at every hotel and tell you exactly what is confirmed before you pay. In Paris and Nice we can also propose serviced apartments with a kitchen. For three generations we often split between two connecting rooms and a nearby suite.

How much does a family trip to Europe cost?

Our France family week starts at 1,099 € per person with a private driver, breakfast and guided days; Chamonix from 1,299 €; the Bavaria road trip from 1,299 € including the car. Children usually pay less for hotels and some activities, and under-16s ride Swiss trains free with a parent. Flights are extra.
