Our designers’ take

01

We are based in Beaujolais, between Burgundy and Lyon, and most of our team grew up with a vineyard in view. That shapes our food and wine trips: producers you meet, not tasting rooms with a shop, lunches at the estate, a cooking class, and a driver so nobody counts glasses.

Bordeaux, Bordeaux & Dordogne Road Trip in 7 Days: Saint-Émilion to Lascaux
02

For spirits, the Cognac Getaway in 6 Days stays in one 4* or 5* hotel (Hotel François Premier or Chais Monnet & Spa) and goes deep: a cognac masterclass, an e-bike ride to a family distillery, a workshop where you blend your own bottle of Bordeaux, a cooking class, a VIP lunch at Rémy Martin and a two-hour tasting inside the Hennessy cooperage, the last major house still making its own barrels. From 1,999 € per person. The Bordeaux and Dordogne Road Trip adds Saint-Émilion châteaux by e-bike, a hot-air balloon over the vines, an oyster harvest on the Bay of Arcachon and the Saturday market in Sarlat, from 1,499 € per person. Burgundy's Route des Grands Crus with a winemaker lunch is the second chapter of our 14-day France itinerary.

Switzerland surprises people: Lavaux's terraced vineyards above Lake Geneva are UNESCO listed, and the Chasselas there is drunk nowhere else. Switzerland in 7 Days includes a sunset wine walk in Lavaux and a three-restaurant gastronomic route on the Gornergrat; Italy and Switzerland in 7 Days follows the milk trail to an Appenzell cheese dairy and the Cailler chocolate factory, after a fish lunch on Isola dei Pescatori and an aperitivo on Milan's Navigli. The French Riviera week adds a private dinner over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Nice's Cours Saleya market. Belgium's contribution, in our three-country itinerary, is a guided tasting of Trappist, Lambic and Abbey beers and ten chocolates in Brussels, followed by Riesling and Gewürztraminer in the Alsace villages.

Timing matters: harvest in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Alsace runs mid-September to mid-October, distillation in Cognac from November to March, white truffles in Piedmont from October. Lucas, our founder, designs the wine trips himself. A priced proposal with estates, restaurants and transfers arrives within 48 hours.

A wonderful travel partner

Caroline our specialist was always knowledgeable, available, helpful and kind. I was unable to make the trip because my cat became quite ill a couple of days before our departure. Caroline helped my husband have an enjoyable trip on his own and we appreciate her. I learned a lot even though I couldn’t travel. I can now use What’s App and Google Translate and Instagram. Thank you Caroline!

Barcelona to Nice along the Mediterranean

We had a wonderful time making the journey along the Mediterranean coast. Starting in Barcelona we were able to visit the newly opened Sagrada de Familia with a wonderful guide - one of the highlights our trip. We had an early entry so the crowds were easily managed and we were able to enjoy both inside and out. The next day we had another great guide who showed us the Jewish history and historical presence in Barcelona. After Barcelona, we went to Girona, which was a wonderful surprise. We stayed at a lovely hotel in the old town that was a converted palace. Our tour here of the old town focusing on Jewish history was incredible. The next day we had an all day small group tour of Dali's house and museum - both well worth the travel including the incredible views along the Costa Brava. Travelling by car along the southern coast of France was relatively easily finding great things to see - Pone du Gard, Baux de Provence town and castle, St. Paul de Vence and finally Nice. An electric bike ride in Nice was also wonderful.

Mount Pilatus, Lake Brienz and Grindelwald

The trip was wonderful. Emilie did a great job in booking our hotels and tours! She explained the train system and how to use the Swiss Rail Pass. The trip was wonderful. Emilie did a great job in booking our hotels and tours! She explained the train system and how to use the Swiss Rail Pass. The hotels for the most part were in great locations, close to the train stations, restaurants and sites to see. The trips she planned to Mount Pilatus and Gornergrat were filled with beautiful scenery of the Alps! Our Kayak tour on Lake Brienz with Hightide Kayaks and Ben, our guide was great. It couldn’t have been more peaceful and serene and Ben got some great photos for us. Our E-bike tour through Grindelwald was filled with amazing views of waterfalls and quaint towns. Marceau, our guide was informative and provided us with hi-lites of the area, photos and a perfect picnic lunch. We did have one glitch, with The Galcier Express running almost three hours longer than scheduled. We heard rumors that there was a train issue with another Glacier Express train. By the time we got to one of the more scenic areas, it was too dark to see any sites. Checking into our hotel at around 9 pm and leaving before 9 am the next morning seemed like such a loss of time. Granted this is no fault on Mobee International’s part, it was just a matter of unforseen circumstances. We only caught a glimpse of St Moritz on the bus ride back to the train station. Emile is aware and has started a process for a refund of some sort. Overall I would highly recommend Emilie and the Mobee International team to friends that seek assistance with travel plans. This is our second trip Mobee International assisted us with travel plans.

Frequently asked questions

Which French wine region is best for a first visit?

Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion for grand châteaux and easy logistics from a city with an airport; Burgundy for small family estates and the most famous vineyards on earth, best with a driver; Alsace for pretty villages and white wines; Cognac if spirits interest you more than wine. Our trips cover all four.

Can we visit the big Cognac houses?

Yes. Our Cognac getaway includes a VIP lunch and tasting at Rémy Martin and a private two-hour visit to the Hennessy cooperage, plus a masterclass and a family distillery reached by e-bike. Martell and Courvoisier can be added. Visits to the cooperage depend on availability, so we book early.

Do you include meals on food and wine trips?

The ones that matter: estate lunches with wine pairings, the cooking class meal, the Rémy Martin lunch, the Gornergrat gastronomic route, the Isola dei Pescatori fish lunch. Other dinners are left free with our restaurant recommendations and reservations on request, so you are not tied to a fixed menu every night.

Who drives after the tastings?

Not you. On wine days we book a private driver or guide, or we use e-bikes within a village like Saint-Émilion where distances are short. The Bordeaux and Dordogne road trip is self-drive, but the Saint-Émilion and Arcachon days are organized so the driving happens before the tasting.

When is the best time for a wine trip to France?

May to June for green vineyards and open estates, or mid-September to mid-October for harvest, when the cellars are working and the light is best. Many Burgundy domaines close to visitors during the first harvest weeks, so we check dates estate by estate. Cognac distillation is a winter show, November to March.
